Is Microdosing Legal in Canada? Hereโs What You Need to Know
Intro: The Psychedelic Legal Landscape
As the popularity of microdosing continues to rise across Canada, many are wondering: is it actually legal? The short answer is not exactlyโbut itโs also not black and white.
In this article, weโll break down the current laws around psilocybin and psychedelic analogues like 1P-LSD, explain whatโs legal to purchase, and show you how Neurodose operates within legal boundaries to offer safe, effective products.
Is Psilocybin Legal in Canada?
Psilocybin is the psychoactive compound found in magic mushrooms. In Canada, it is classified as a Schedule III substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). That means:
- It is illegal to possess, distribute, or sell psilocybin without a special exemption.
- It is not regulated through traditional channels (like pharmacies).
- Health Canada has issued limited exemptions for research or end-of-life care.
Despite this, psilocybin products are widely available online due to lax enforcement and shifting public opinion.
๐ Explore safely: Psilocybin Microdose Capsules (100mg) โ designed for responsible, low-dose use.
So How Are People Still Microdosing Legally?
Many Canadians are turning to psychedelic analoguesโcompounds that are structurally similar to scheduled substances but are not specifically listed under current drug laws.
What Is 1P-LSD and Is It Legal?
1P-LSD is a prodrug of LSD-25, meaning your body converts it into LSD after ingestion. However:
- It is not explicitly banned under Canadian law.
- It exists in a legal grey area, meaning it can be sold and possessed until new legislation changes its status.
- It is commonly used for microdosing due to its stability, potency, and legal accessibility.
โ๏ธ Try it: 1P-LSD 10mcg Blotters โ a structured, clean option that remains legal to purchase in Canada.
Is This the Future of Mental Wellness?
Canadian law is evolving. In 2020, Health Canada began approving psilocybin use for end-of-life patients and research. In cities like Vancouver and Toronto, enforcement around psychedelics is increasingly relaxed. There’s a growing push toward:
- Decriminalization of all drugs
- Expanded research access
- Therapeutic exemptions for psychedelics
While psilocybin is not yet federally legal for general use, many experts believe full medical legalization is only a few years away.
What Should You Avoid?
- Unlabeled mushroom blends from sketchy sites
- Vendors with no lab testing, no dosing guidance, or no clarity on compound type
Stick to transparent, reputable brands that prioritize microdosing science, safety, and legality.

How to Build a Microdosing Schedule That Works for You
Intro: Why a Schedule Matters
Microdosing isnโt just about the substanceโitโs about the rhythm. Your schedule plays a huge role in how effective your microdosing experience is. Whether your goal is more focus, improved mood, or greater creativity, finding the right dosing protocol helps you track benefits, avoid tolerance, and optimize results.
In this guide, weโll break down the most popular microdosing schedules, how to choose the right one, and what products work best with each approach.
1. The Fadiman Protocol (Most Popular for Beginners)
Created by psychologist James Fadiman, this schedule is designed to minimize tolerance and maximize noticeable effects.
Schedule:
- Day 1: Microdose
- Day 2: Rest day (observe subtle afterglow effects)
- Day 3: Rest day
- Repeat cycle
Why people love it:
- Easy to follow
- Clear structure
- Great for tracking benefits
โ Try with: Psilocybin Capsules 100mg or 1P-LSD 10mcg Blotters โ both ideal for low, consistent dosing.
2. The Stamets Stack (Neurogenesis Focused)
Developed by mycologist Paul Stamets, this method combines psilocybin with lionโs mane and niacin to promote neurogenesis and long-term cognitive health.
Schedule:
- Take daily for 4 days
- Then 3 days off
- Repeat weekly
Why people love it:
- Supports brain plasticity
- Designed for long-term wellness
- Includes nootropic and adaptogenic benefits
๐ฟ Get it here: Stamets Stack Capsules โ our best-selling blend for performance and brain support.
3. Intuitive Dosing (Listen to Your Body)
This is a flexible, self-guided method based on how you feel mentally, emotionally, and physically. Some people microdose every 2โ4 days, others follow work or creativity cycles.
Schedule:
- No fixed patternโdose when needed
- Track your mood, energy, and performance
- Useful once you’re familiar with your body’s response
Why people love it:
- Highly personalized
- Aligns with natural energy rhythms
- Less rigid than structured protocols
๐งโโ๏ธ Pair with: Adaptogen Blend Capsules โ supports calm and focus for everyday flexibility.
4. Daily Microdosing (Advanced Use Only)
Some experienced users opt for low daily doses of psilocybin or analogues to maintain consistent cognitive and emotional performance. This requires careful observation and regular tolerance breaks.
Note: This is not recommended for beginners, as daily use can lead to diminished effects or psychological fatigue.
โ ๏ธ If trying this method, we suggest a rotating stack like Adaptogen Blend with lionโs mane, or alternating between Psilocybin and 1P-LSD.
How to Track Results
To get the most from your schedule:
- Journal daily โ mood, focus, anxiety, creativity
- Use a tracker app (like Microdose.me or Bearable)
- Adjust dosing as needed based on your experience
Be patient. Most people notice cumulative effects over 2โ4 weeksโnot overnight.
Final Thoughts: The Right Schedule Is the One That Works for You
Thereโs no single best microdosing routine. What matters is consistency, observation, and alignment with your lifestyle and wellness goals. Whether you’re stacking for long-term brain health or just trying to enhance your focus a few days a week, Neurodose offers premium, lab-tested products to help you get started with confidence.

Microdosing and Anxiety: What the Research Says
Intro: A New Approach to Managing Anxiety
In a world where anxiety is on the rise, many are searching for alternatives to pharmaceuticals and stimulants. Enter microdosing: the practice of taking sub-perceptual amounts of psychedelics like psilocybin or 1P-LSD to support mental health and emotional regulation.
But does it really work for anxietyโand is it safe? Letโs explore what science and anecdotal evidence reveal about microdosing as a tool for stress and anxiety management.
What Is Microdosing (Quick Refresher)?
Microdosing involves taking very small, non-intoxicating doses of a psychedelic compound. These doses are low enough to avoid hallucinations or impairment, but high enough to produce subtle cognitive or emotional shifts.
Common substances used:
- Psilocybin (from magic mushrooms)
- 1P-LSD (a legal LSD analogue in Canada)
- Stacked blends (e.g., with lionโs mane, niacin, adaptogens)
๐ฟ Try it: Psilocybin Microdose Capsules 100mg โ beginner-friendly and calming.
What the Research Says
While large-scale clinical trials are still limited, emerging data and early studies suggest that psychedelics may help reduce anxietyโespecially when used with intention and at microdose levels.
Key Findings:
- A 2021 study in Scientific Reports found lower anxiety and depression scores among microdosers vs. non-microdosers.
- Psilocybin has shown anxiolytic effects (anxiety-reducing) in terminally ill patients even at full doses.
- Anecdotal studies, like those collected by the Microdose.me project, report increased calm, emotional balance, and reduced anxious rumination.
How Does Microdosing Help With Anxiety?
Microdosing appears to affect the serotonin system, which is directly tied to mood regulation and stress response. Sub-perceptual doses may help:
- Increase emotional flexibility
- Reduce overthinking and obsessive thought loops
- Promote calm, centered focus
- Encourage mindfulness and self-awareness
- Support resilience to everyday stressors
๐งโโ๏ธ Go deeper: Neurodose Adaptogen Blend combines psilocybin with lionโs mane and calming herbs to promote emotional balance.
Psilocybin vs 1P-LSD for Anxiety Relief
Both substances can support mood, but they have slightly different emotional tones.
- Psilocybin tends to be softer, heart-centered, and emotionally grounding. Itโs often preferred for anxiety and emotional processing.
- 1P-LSD is more cerebral, structured, and energizing, and may be better suited for anxiety rooted in overwhelm or executive dysfunction.
โก Need more focus with calm? Try 1P-LSD 10mcg Blotters โ a cleaner, legal option in Canada.
Is It Safe? What to Consider
While microdosing is generally well-tolerated, here are a few important notes:
- Avoid if you have a personal/family history of psychosis or schizophrenia
- Start low and track your experienceโeveryoneโs baseline anxiety is different
- Consult your doctor if you’re on SSRIs or psychiatric medication
Tolerance can also build with daily use, so many follow schedules like the Fadiman Protocol.
Real People, Real Results
Many Neurodose customers report:
โA huge reduction in my daily background anxietyโwithout feeling drugged.โ
โI can handle stress way better. I just feel more present.โ
โNo more racing thoughts first thing in the morning.โ
Final Thoughts: Microdosing as a Gentle Ally
While itโs not a magic fix, microdosing can be a powerful tool for those looking to manage anxiety with intention and awareness. When paired with mindfulness, healthy habits, and a supportive protocol, it may help you feel more grounded, clear, and resilient.

1P-LSD vs Psilocybin: Whatโs the Difference?
Intro: Two Popular Paths to Clarity
If youโre exploring microdosing, youโve likely come across both psilocybin and 1P-LSD. These two compounds are among the most widely used psychedelics for enhancing focus, mood, and creativityโespecially in low, sub-perceptual doses.
While both have similar benefits, they differ in chemistry, effects, duration, and legality. This article breaks it down so you can make an informed choice for your personal wellness stack.
What Is Psilocybin?
Psilocybin is the active compound found in psychedelic mushrooms. Once ingested, your body converts it into psilocin, which interacts with serotonin receptors to alter perception and mood.
Itโs the more โnaturalโ option of the two, and many users describe its effects as emotionally grounding, heart-opening, and ideal for enhancing emotional well-being.
๐ Try it: Psilocybin Microdose Capsules (100mg) โ ideal for beginners and mood support.
What Is 1P-LSD?
1P-LSD (short for 1-propionyl-lysergic acid diethylamide) is a semi-synthetic analogue of LSD-25. Itโs believed to act as a prodrug, meaning your body converts it into LSD once ingested.
1P-LSD is popular for its precision, clarity, and energy. Users often report itโs better for cognitive performance, deep work, and problem solvingโmaking it a favorite among entrepreneurs, coders, and creatives.
โก Explore: 1P-LSD Blotters (10mcg) โ perfect for structured microdosing and clean mental energy.
Key Differences at a Glance
Feature Psilocybin 1P-LSD Source Naturally occurring in mushrooms Lab-synthesized analogue of LSD Onset 30โ60 minutes 45โ90 minutes Duration 4โ6 hours 8โ12 hours Feel Earthy, emotional, introspective Analytical, energizing, focused Best For Mood, creativity, connection Focus, productivity, structure Legality in Canada Controlled substance Legal grey area
Which One Is Right for You?
It depends on your goals.
- Choose psilocybin if you’re seeking emotional balance, mood support, or a deeper sense of presence.
- Choose 1P-LSD if you want cognitive clarity, longer-lasting effects, and enhanced productivity.
You can also alternate between both to support different types of work or wellness phases.
What About Legality?
- Psilocybin is a Schedule III controlled substance in Canada. While decriminalization efforts are growing, it remains technically illegal to possess or distribute without special exemption.
- 1P-LSD, however, is not explicitly scheduled in Canada, making it accessible through platforms like Neurodose. This legal grey area makes it a popular choice for those seeking a compliant way to explore microdosing.
๐ง Also consider: Adaptogen Blend Capsules โ combining psilocybin, lionโs mane, and calming herbs for whole-body support.
Final Thoughts: Try Both, Safely
Thereโs no one-size-fits-all approach to microdosing. Whether you gravitate toward the natural feel of psilocybin or the clean focus of 1P-LSD, both compounds offer unique pathways to enhanced well-being.
Neurodose offers safe, beginner-friendly options for both substances, all lab-tested and carefully dosed.

Why has Microdosing Become Popular?
Increase in Reported Use of Microdosing
The use of microdosing has increased due to the reported beneficial effects many users report experiencing. Studies suggest that microdosing, which involves taking minimal amounts of a substance like LSD or Psilocybin, can provide therapeutic benefits such as improved creativity, reduced anxiety and improved focus. This increase in reported use of microdosing has opened up conversations about the potential for its use in medical settings and other treatment plans.
Microdosing involves fewer risks than full doses of these substances currently do. It’s thought that lower doses give positive psychological effects with little to no psychoactive effects. This would be preferable over larger doses, which could have more potent physical and mental side effects. This can make it an attractive alternative for those tired of traditional treatments yet still seeking relief from their symptoms. Because the regulation surrounding these substances is complex and varies around the world, it is not recommended to take them outside of controlled research settings. Yet despite this cautionary advice, anecdotal reports support the idea that taking low doses could offer a relaxing effect or boost one’s mood without creating dependence. This is why interest in microdosing continues to grow among medical professionals and recreational users alike.
The Easing of Legal Restrictions Around The Personal Use of Microdoses
Microdosing has become increasingly popular recently, especially among people looking for improved productivity, greater creativity and enhanced well-being. While the concept of ingesting micro-amounts of a psychedelic substance is nothing new, legal restrictions around its personal use have been a significant barrier to entry in many regions. Fortunately, as our understanding of the potential benefits of microdosing increases, so make efforts to relax or remove regulations blocking responsible use.
Recent studies into the effects of microdoses have prompted governments around the world to reconsider individual and recreational use regulations on several psychedelics. This means that in countries like Canada, The Netherlands and Portugal, it is now legal to possess psychoactive substances like psilocybin or LSD in small amounts (microdoses) without facing harsh legal consequences -under certain conditions.
As more countries acknowledge and embrace the therapeutic potential of these substances for personal self-improvement, more individuals are open to exploring them safely under different circumstances. The easing up of legal restrictions has opened a door for those seeking to experience some of the reported positive effects associated with proper microdosing regimens. It has also resulted in an explosion in research into this subject from all corners of academia. We still have much to learn about the long-term effects of the usage, and balancing appropriate doses for various therapeutic protocols still needs to be discovered. But there is no denying that relaxing existing laws presents a unique opportunity to explore what lies beyond conventionally accepted standards of health care within our society โ if used responsibly and under supervision if necessary. Together with public education initiatives encouraging safe experimentation through reliable sources such as Microdose Market, we can understand why interest in microdoses has grown so popular today.
The Establishment of High-Profile Psychedelic Research Centres
In recent years, the concept of “microdosing”โtaking minimal doses of psychedelics, such as LSD or psilocybin mushroomsโhas caught on as a means to heal and optimize one’s life. It is believed that microdosing can improve mood levels, creativity, empathy, focus and productivity. But the theory behind its effectiveness lies primarily in speculation without scientific validation.
Several research centres are emerging that are devoted to validating the practicality of microdosing psychedelic substances and exploring its potential therapeutic benefits on a much deeper level. The establishment of these high-profile research centres is making it easier for scientists to investigate psychedelics in a wide variety of experiments, including:
- Clinical trials
- Animal studies
- Brain scans
- Long-term follow-up studies
In addition to providing more opportunities for researchers to experiment with psychedelics and carry out more comprehensive studies on their use, this newly emergent research movement has helped boost public awareness about the potential medical benefits of microdosing psychedelic substances. Through various conferences and prestigious publications featuring this cutting-edge research on psychedelics, microdosing has gained traction beyond recreational use by highlighting the more significant social implications of exploring its capacity for treating conditions like depression and anxiety.
Whether or not it will provide lasting benefits remains to be seen. Still, the new trend towards using psychedelics as a therapeutic tool looks far from fading away anytime soon โ thanks mainly to an abundance of recent rigorous studies concentrated on proving their effectiveness being conducted at prominent research centres worldwide.

A Day in the Life of a Microdoser
Today weโre going to take a sneak peek into the life of Andrew, a small business owner in his mid 20โs. Andrew runs a small-scale graphic design company and often spends a lot of his time in front of a computer screen.
While Andrew loved his job, he began feeling unmotivated and as a result, he found himself struggling with feelings of depression.
He knew it was ready for a change in his life, so he researched different remedies and treatments he can try in order to boost his energy and overall quality of life.
He then came across the notion of microdosing and it piqued his interest.
Letโs take a closer look at the various differences in his life before and after microdosing.
Morning Routine Before Microdosing
Andrew wakes up and immediately knows he is running late by the bright sunlight shining through his curtains. The time of his phone reflects that he overslept and it’s already 11:30 AM.
Thankfully, his workday starts at noon.
Andrew goes to bed every night with the intention of waking up early to get in a proper meal, a work-out, and a shower. Yet every morning he wakes up feeling exhausted and sluggish.
Andrew reaches for the coffee pot and sighs as he already knows itโs going to be a two cups of coffee kind of day.
He knows he needs to find a new way to stay motivated and energized throughout his day – but how?
Morning Routine After Microdosing
Andrew has been microdosing for three months now, he wakes up at 8:00 AM and starts his day with stretching and meditation.
He finds that he has more motivation than ever before and while he used to hate waking up early, he now enjoys having those hours before work to practise some self-care.
Andrew drinks his coffee while sitting outside in the sun. He spends this time planning his day to ensure he is productive.
While his old breakfast would be a cup of coffee with a greasy fast food meal, he now takes the time to put together a well-balanced meal.
Personal Life Before Microdosing
While Andrew participates in social activities once every few months, he often finds himself feeling too depressed or anxious to leave the house.
He finds that his social anxiety makes it hard for him to try new things or even reach out to others.
Andrew often turns down invitations to go out but then spends his evening regretting his decision.
He also finds it difficult to express his emotions and usually ends up pushing people away.
All of these factors lead Andrew to feel isolated, and even more depressed.
Personal Life After Microdosing
Itโs 9:00 AM on a beautiful Saturday morning and Andrew is tying up his running shoes and getting ready for a hike with his friends.
After their hike, Andrew and his friends plan on attending a painting class. Andrew enjoys expressing himself creatively and finds it to be a nice outlet.
He smiles at himself as he realizes that 4 months ago he would have been too nervous to try a painting class as it would have been a new experience.
He loves spending time with people and finds himself content with the people in his life. Now that he microdoses, he finds it easier to communicate his feelings and thoughts.
Andrew loves trying new things and is excited at the thought of finding new hobbies to engage in.
Sleep Before Microdosing
Itโs 2:00 AM, Andrew is still up watching Netflix.
He spent his night stressed out by work, and ended up ordering take-out instead of cooking a meal as he had planned.
He watches TV while slowly falling asleep but ends up waking up even more exhausted than before.
Sleep After Microdosing
Itโs 6:00 PM.
Andrew has just finished making a well-balanced meal and is excited to fuel his body with a home-cooked meal.
He no longer craves fast food and always has the energy and motivation to cook healthy meals.
He is in bed by 9:00 PM and spends the last two hours of his night reading, writing, or meditating.
His sleep quality has increased substantially and he has no problem waking up early to get his day started.

Microdosing for Your Mental Health
According to research, 1 in 5 people in Canada will personally experience a mental health problem or illness. With mental health issues becoming increasingly more prevalent across the world – it is understandable that methods of treatment would also become more known and utilized. In fact, more than 20 million antidepressants were prescribed between October and December 2020.
Of course, individuals that are being prescribed antidepressants are hoping to relieve the symptoms of their mental health issues; however, research has shown that these powerful medications arenโt always helping the problem. Common side effects of antidepressants include:
- Problems with sexual performance
- Insomnia
- Blood clots
- Increased risk of internal bleeding
- Weight gain
- Suicidal thoughts or behaviour
- Addiction
- Inability to feel emotions
- High blood sugar levels
- Tachyphylaxis (sudden decrease in response to a drug)
With extreme and sometimes dangerous responses to antidepressants, people have started looking to alternative methods that may provide a shorter list of side effects.
Microdosing is the practice of taking small doses of various substances such as; Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), Psilocybin (โmagicโ mushrooms), Cannabis, etc. While there are limited scientific studies done on the effects microdosing can have, there are several anecdotal studies that prove how microdosing can have a positive impact on usersโ overall health, especially when it comes to their mental health.
Increase in Creativity and Energy
Unfortunately, people who suffer from mental health issues often claim that they are no longer interested in activities and hobbies that previously brought them joy. This can be very unfortunate as the lack of interest can worsen a depressive state and make these individuals feel empty and hopeless.
A very common benefit of microdosing is that it provides a jolt of energy and an increase in creativity. This allows microdosers to regain interest in their hobbies and they may even feel inclined to try out new activities that they didnโt have the confidence or motivation to participate in before.
Strengthens Connections With Loved Ones
One of the most prominent symptoms of mental health issues is the desire to isolate ourselves and segregate from our loved ones. This is a common problem for many individuals and it often leads to severe depression. Spending time with our loved ones is essential as it provides us with feelings of security, happiness, and optimism. In fact, research shows that spending time with our loved ones actually stimulates oxytocin.
So, how does microdosing help? People who microdose often note that they feel a lot more social and notice a drastic difference in regards to their social anxiety. Microdosers also notice that they feel more content with the people around them and experience the ability to express their thoughts more naturally.
Boosts Your Motivation for Self-Care
Mental health issues can often make individuals feel a lack of compassion for themselves. They may no longer feel the need to take care of themselves or their health. This can be detrimental to their lives as it may lead to a sedentary lifestyle, substance abuse, and other toxic habits.
People who microdose often experience an increase in motivation and a substantial decrease in their desire for harmful substances and junk food. Many users also note that they no longer procrastinate tasks and theyโre more proactive and dedicated to reaching goals in their professional and personal lives.

Three Benefits of Microdosing
While microdosing is still an unfamiliar concept to many, there is no doubt that it is gaining some traction, especially in recent years. From the early research done by psychologist James Fadiman, to more recent anecdotal studies; there is enough evidence to show that microdosers do experience positive results and benefits from microdosing.
While there are many potential benefits of microdosing, here are three that are the most prevalent and consistent throughout each study:
- Reduces Symptoms of Mental Illnesses
While itโs certainly an oversimplification, people generally microdose for two different reasons: to decrease the frequency and intensity of undesirable mental states, or to improve the frequency and intensity of desirable mental states.
According to research, more than 6.7 million people are living with a mental health condition in Canada. Microdosing can aid in reducing the frequency and intensity of undesirable states caused by various forms of mental illness, including anxiety (generalized or social), depression, ADD/ADHD, etc.
Microdosing can also increase certain desirable states, such as, feelings of high energy, being productive, and improved relationships/increased empathy.
2. Boosts Creativity, Energy, and Productivity
Various microdosing users have stated an elevated desire to indulge in creative activities. Artists such as Yoko Ono and Adrian Piper created their most successful pieces of art while microdosing.
In 2018, โThe Conversationโ came out with an article called โโMicrodosersโ of LSD and magic mushrooms are wiser and more creativeโ. This article covered details of their recent study where they questioned individuals who microdose regularly compared to those who do not. Their survey revealed that microdosers scored higher on wisdom, open-mindedness, and creativity.
In 2016, Wired came out with an article where they interviewed young professionals located in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. These young professionals spoke on their experience with microdosing, and specifically how it changed their work ethic. They found that by taking a small amount of LSD every few days, they were able to stay productive and energetic throughout their workday. They strongly believe that it is optimizing their mental prowess.
3. Overall Physical & Spiritual Health
Many microdosers report that in addition to the increased energy levels, they also found themselves to be more health conscious. Studies show that some users experience an increase in stamina and a newfound love of healthier food options. Microdosing has also been known to help users fall asleep quicker and wake up feeling refreshed.
Microdosing has a large effect on your spiritual health as well as physical. Microdosers will often feel a closer connection with those around them and allows them to get a better understanding of their own self-worth.
